I am currently exploring how I can combine steel with natural materials to produce sculptures that can stimulate one or more of the senses:

touch, smell, sound, taste, sight.

The overall shapes of the sculptures are based on plant forms. The colours used are earth pigments and come from observation of plants. For example, yellow – which is the last colour that visually impaired people can see, can be contrasted with a dark base colour to provide contrast.

There is also contrast between smooth and textural shapes. Some shapes can be mounted on springs to bring motion/ movement into the sculpture.

All the sculptures use natural/organic elements as their subject matter, combined with sensory elements. However, they are not to be seen as purely ‘sensory’ sculptures, but sculptures that are accessible on all levels - visual as well as sensory.

They are site specific, and are designed to interact with their environment.
