That's CreativityNorth Norfolk Newspapers June 24th 2004Imaginations have been running wild at North Walsham High School, where three days of special activities have seen pupils exploring their creative talents. They have been taking part in sessions dedicated to the arts, music, drama, dancing, circus skills and sculpture. And their creativity culminated on Friday with stage performances to show schoolmates what they had been up to. Among those working with the children during the week were sculptor Natasha Carsberg, from Colchester, and textile artist and printmaker Annie Brundrit, of Somerleyton. Their visit was funded through the governments Creative Partnerships scheme, which aims to introduce children to individuals and groups from the cultural world. They sent year eight pupils out on a litter pick with a difference. All the empty crisp packets, drinks cans and bottles they brought back were used to make original works of art, based on students own ideas. One group used laminators, glue guns and blow torches to turn discarded packaging into an abstract hanging sculpture, while another welded two unwanted tables together, fixed on an old chair, turned a broken music stand into a gun, gloss painted everything green and created a military tank.
