T.R.A.I.L.
RESIDENCY,
HUMBER
BRIDGE COUNTRY PARK, HULL, YORKSHIRE 2003.

'Iris' Sculptural Seat,
Steel, 140 x 50 x 50 cm
The aims of the
project were that the artist would have the opportunity to:
- Work
within an environment consisting of a number of different natural
characteristics and rich in cultural and industrial heritage.
- Work
with the Phoenix group and/or members of the public at various stages of the
process, including negotiating the site for each artist.
- Create
a seat or number of seats, which will highlight a specific aspect of the
area whilst increasing access.
A key aim for the
project as a whole was to develop the relationship between the Country Park and
the surrounding communities.
Humber Bridge
Country Park, the Phoenix Young Conservation group and Artlink Exchange developed the TRAIL project in Partnership.
Key tasks to be
undertaken during the residency:
- Deliver
practical workshops to highlight the techniques involved in the chosen art
form whilst encouraging further discussion of art and design.
- Create
a sculpture or group of pieces, which relate to a specific site.
- Encourage
community development through participation in arts activities.
- Liase
with the Phoenix Group, throughout the project.
- Assist
the Phoenix group with various means of documentation before, during and
after the work is created.
