Project aims
¨ Each year to have their own sculpture, to be sited in landscaped area outside their classroom.
¨ Each sculpture must relate to the curriculum for that year, and have an interactive element.
¨ The pupils to take ownership for their sculpture, be responsible for its upkeep, and work on it during lessons.
¨ The sculpture workshops and final design must enable all pupils to be involved.
Schedule:
Artist to spend four days on each sculpture:
Day one -artist to observe class and assist pupils in making of small scale sculptures
Days two & three—artist to produce design for sculpture based on pupils ideas, and manufacture shell of sculpture in studio
Day four—artist to install sculpture in school, with assistance from pupils, and assist pupils in finishing of sculpture.
